Baird, A.H | Field Camera | Other | 5 X 4 inch Plate
1895. Baird were offering brass bound outfits in any size, from 1895. This unusual 5 x 4 camera is presumed to be one of them, although it is labelled only "Sold by A.H.Baird, Edinburgh." There is double extension via a pull out front which can be locked in position, and a back with focusing screen, operated by rack and pinion, tailboard style, for fine focus. There are advantages to this arrangement, particularly for close-up work, when the lens can maintain a fixed distance from the subject.
