Underwood, E and T | Tourograph | Other | Quarter Plate

FIELD CAMERA | 1888. Channing & Dunn have the Tourograph being advertised in 1888 as a tailboard camera, but this is definitely a Tourograph and it is definitely not a tailboard camera. There is no applied label, but "The Tourograph" and the maker's name are stamped into the wood at the bottom corners of the body. It is a very simple "entry level" camera, with only single extension, a limited rise to the lens panel, and focusing by manually moving the front panel. There is no rack and pinion facility, and it may well have been quite difficult to use.
