Unnamed | Replica Fox-Talbot Mousetrap (Evans) | Other | Other

REPLICA FOX-TALBOT 'MOUSETRAP' CAMERA. 2008. PROTOTYPE CAMERA. PAPER NEGATIVE. In the mid-1830s, William Henry Fox-Talbot was experimenting with fixing the transient images that people had been seeing on various 'cameras' for many years. His cameras were very small, simple wooden boxes made for him by his estate carpenter at Lacock Abbey. His wife and his mother called them 'mousetraps'. The originals are in the National Trust collection at Lacock Abbey. They will never be accessible to collectors, so I made myself this not awfully good replica of one of them.
