Dallmeyer, J.H. | Nameless | Tailboard | Small Square Format Plate

TAILBOARD FIELD CAMERA. 1860 - 1870. A beautiful, small, brass and mahogany field camera of very unusual format, 3 and 1/4 inch square, probably intended for making lantern slides. The outfit includes a Dallmeyer engraved lens, (no.30298, 1880-1881), Waterhouse stops, a hand operated flap shutter, three double dark slides and a lens cap, all in a fitted leather case, and all original. Original outfits like this are always harder to find than single cameras, for obvious reasons. The focusing rack and pinion assembly was absent and has been replaced.
