Lancaster, J and Son | Lancaster International Patent | Tailboard | Quarter Plate

TAILBOARD FIELD CAMERA. 1886. One of Lancaster's rarer models, these tailboard type cameras were made in 1886. To put it in historical perspective, that was two years before Jack The Ripper was terrifying London in 1888. A square/red bellows tailboard camera, focusing by a crank and captive screw at the rear, there are two of them in my collection. I don't use these as bookends... but I could do. In 1887, Lancaster re-worked most of his designs into more traditional 'English' style, front focusing models.
